Person Has ‘Lucky Escape’ After Train Hit

Trains in and out of Melton Mowbray were delayed this evening following an incident where a person was struck by a train.

Earlier this evening a National Rail Spokesperson said: “Emergency services are dealing with an incident between Leicester and Melton Mowbray / Loughborough meaning all lines are blocked.

Train services running through these stations may be cancelled or delayed. Disruption is expected until 19:15.”

East Midlands Railway, who operate the line, have since updated passengers saying: “As reported earlier, sadly a person has been hit by a train between Leicester and Loughborough. We are relieved to say that the person has had an incredibly lucky escape and has avoided injury. The line has now re-opened. Our services are heavily disrupted due to the diversion and cancellation of many of our services.”
