Essential work required for a new housing development on part of the Melton hospital site starts on Monday (4th March) with the closure of Thorpe Road until 15th March.
It was initially listed that the road would be closed for 8 days but this was increased which caused concerned for local residents
The council has also been in touch with the developer, Snowden Homes, to ensure all the work is completed by Friday, 15 March, or that Thorpe Road is made safe so it can be re-opened for the Junior CiCCle Classic event which brings rolling road closures to Saxby Road and a full closure to Sherrard Street.
The event organisers have also been updated on the position.

A spokesperson for the county council said: “This is essential work being carried out by the developer and is linked to carriageway improvement and drainage work. Unfortunately, some disruption is unavoidable.
“We do work hard, however, to minimise disruption on the road network and have worked closely with the developer.”
The proposed alternative diversion routes will also be signed on site and parking restrictions will be in place as required.
