It's been confirmed that a busy route for Melton drivers will close at the end of this month until mid-April.
Galliford Try who are the contractors building the new distributor road have confirmed in a letter to residents that Melton Spinney Road will be closing from Monday 27th January at 6am until Sunday 13th April 2025.
In the letter the contractor said: "A full road closure is required to safely complete the new roundabout construction works as part of the NEMMDR project. Due to the nature of the work being undertaken at this location work cannot be carried out using a partial lane closure.
The works include removal of the existing carriageway and reconstruction to a new alignment with service trenches and excavations across the full length of the carriageway.

We anticipate this closure will enable us to complete the new roundabout without the need for further closures.
However, should any final works be required such as the installation of signage, lighting columns and roadside works, there may be a requirement to complete these elements under temporary 2-way traffic lights."
The closure will be in place from 6:00am on Monday 27 th January until 11:59 pm on Sunday 13th April 2025. The closure has been planned and programmed to make use of the school half term holidays to minimise disruption.
Diversion Route:
If you are travelling from Melton please follow the signposted diversion route to Scalford village & Twinlakes via Scalford Road. If you are travelling from Scalford please follow the signposted diversion route to Melton via Scalford Road. To help minimise congestion and to keep traffic flowing during the closure there will be a temporary one way system in place through Scalford Village.
Access for residential properties will be maintained at all times. Access for Twinlakes theme park will be signposted and available throughout the closure period.
