John Ferneley College has written to parents to remind their children of the dangers of the roads after a teenager was hit by a car.
Emergency services were called to Scalford Road with the junction of St. John's Drive just after 3:15pm on Thursday following reports someone had been hit by a car.
In an email to parents seen by NEMM, Head of School Natalie Teece, said: "In light of this incident, we want to, of course, remind everyone of the importance of safety and vigilance when walking to and from school."

She added: "We would also like to thank our students, parents/guardians and the local community for their quick response and care for our student during this incident."
A Leicestershire Police spokeswoman said: "Police were called at 3.18pm on Thursday 5 January to a report of a collision in St John’s Drive, Melton Mowbray.
The collision involved a car and a pedestrian.
The pedestrian – a teenage boy – was taken to hospital as a precaution following the collision."
Leicestershire Police added that there were no serious injuries reported.
