Saxby Road in Melton remains closed and horrid diversions remain in place while work is carried out following a burst pipe.
Emergency services along with Severn Trent Water were called to Saxby Road in Melton early on Saturday morning following a burst pipe turning the road in to an extension of the River Wreake.
Diversions in place take drivers around the roadworks via Freeby Lane, Woodfold Lane and HGVs via the A1 due to an emergency closure of Lag Lane in Thorpe Arnold following a police closure on Monday following vehicles getting stuck in mud.

Today (Wednesday) A Severn Trent spokesperson said: “The repair on the burst main on Saxby Road has been completed. We will now reinstate the road surface and get everything back to normal as quickly as possible.

“Due to the damage caused by the burst, the reinstatement works are unlikely to be completed before next week. In order to safeguard the workforce and ensure the safety of road users, traffic management will remain in place for the duration.
“We know that roadworks can be frustrating and would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
An extra roadworks listing was published today for National Grid to carry out some work.
When asked by NEMM if that was delaying the reopening of the road, a National Grid spokesperson said: "National Grid were not responsible for the road closure and are not holding up the re-opening of the road. We did become aware of an unplanned fault on our network, therefore, our local team are digging up the grass verge opposite [house number removed by NEMM] Saxby road to find and repair the fault. One customer is affected by this fault and we hope to repair it by the end of today."
