Police uncover huge cannabis operation hidden on Vale of Belvoir industrial estate worth over £800k

Leicestershire Police have discovered a cannabis farm with more than 900 plants and a street value of over £800,000 hidden on an industrial estate in the Vale of Belvoir.

Officers from Melton Police Station made the discovery last Wednesday (8th May) on the Winterbeck Industrial Estate in Bottesford on the Leicestershire border.

There were 953 plants in total with an estimated street value of over £800,000 which have now been removed and disposed of by officers.

In a post on social media a spokesperson for the team said: "We've made a significant discovery in our ongoing efforts to keep our streets safe. Our officers have uncovered a massive cannabis grow operation hidden within a local industrial unit.

Last Wednesday we attended an industrial unit on Winterbeck Industrial Estate in Bottesford and recovered 953 plants [with a] street value of over £800,00.

This is not just about removing drugs from circulation; it's about clamping down on the criminal activities that fund them. The sale of illegal substances fuels further crime, impacts community safety, and harms the environment."

It's not been confirmed if any arrests have been made.

The spokesperson added: " We're committed to dismantling these operations and bringing those responsible to justice. But we can't do it alone. We need your eyes, your ears, and your voice. See something suspicious? Let us know!"

You can report suspicious activity by calling 101 or Crime Stoppers which is free and anonymous on 080 0555 111.
