Police assist with encampment in Melton street

Police and baliffs have assisted with removing an encampment on private land in Melton.


Officers were first notified on Tuesday after a report was received about an encampment on private land in Saxby Road, Melton.


Multiple police vehicles were spotted in the area on Wednesday afternoon too.



A spokesperson for Leicestershire Police said: "Shortly before 8pm on Tuesday (18 February) a report was received of an encampment on private land in Saxby Road, Melton.


Officers were subsequently deployed and spoke to those who had entered onto the land. They were also informed by the land owner that bailiffs had been informed.


On Wednesday (19 February) officers attended the site with bailiffs. A notice for the group to leave was served by the bailiffs."


The group left at around 9am on Thursday 20th February.
