Police have issued a 'Traffic Offence Report' to a motorist after they were caught using their mobile phone while driving to film a police incident yesterday.
Melton Police has confirmed on their social media this morning (Thursday) that a driver was caught filming the incident on Burton Street yesterday while driving by in their vehicle.
A Melton Police spokesperson said: "Unfortunately, a passing motorist thought it would be a good idea to film this incident on their mobile phone, WHILST DRIVING. This driver was quickly caught up with and has been issued with a Traffic Offence Report. It is likely this will result in the driver receiving 6 points on their licence and a £200 fine.
This was a deplorable thing to do and hopefully this post acts as a reminder to those who think this type of behaviour is acceptable. Have some respect for other people and concentrate on driving correctly."
Emergency Services were called to the incident in Burton Street yesterday afternoon following reports that a woman had collapsed.
A Leicestershire Police spokesperson said: "Officers were called to Burton Street in Melton just before 1.50pm 26 November after a report was received that a woman had collapsed. Sadly, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The death is not being treated as suspicious and file will be prepared for HM Coroner."
Melton Police praised other local emergency services for their help during the incident.
