Midlands Radio Station 'Gem' set to be digital only from October as brand is replaced on FM

East Midlands Radio station Gem will be available in digital form only from October as Greatest Hits Radio take over the 106FM frequency.

Greatest Hits Radio is expanding its coverage in the East Midlands by launching on FM in the region on Monday October 2nd. This change will see Gem Radio becoming digital only from the same date.

Both stations will continue to provide local news and information for Nottingham and the East Midlands, including traffic and travel as well as commercial opportunities for local partners.

Gary Stein, Group Programme Director for the Hits Radio Brand Network said “Following Ken Bruce’s arrival at Greatest Hits Radio earlier this year there’s been a huge desire from FM audiences to be able to listen to his show along with the rest of our fantastic programming – evidenced by the station’s latest RAJAR figures. This change means that listeners in the East Midlands can enjoy greater access to the station whilst Gem Radio’s audience can continue to enjoy the station, including the Breakfast show with Jo & Sparky, on DAB digital radio and online.”

Both stations will be available on DAB digital radio, online and via smart speakers, with Greatest Hits Radio East Midlands replacing Gem Radio on 106FM from October 2nd.
