A Melton brewery has every reason to celebrate today after being named the best venue in Leicestershire in a prestigious national event.
The National Pub & Bar Awards are organised by the Pub & Bar Magazine and have named Round Corner Brewing in Scalford Road the best in Leicestershire.
Launching in 2018, the brewery and taproom within Melton's iconic Cattle Market has gone from strength to strength. Most recently they have been awarded numerous gold, silvers and bronze medals from some of the most prestigious awards going – The European Beer Challenge, International Brewing Awards and The World Beer Awards.
The pubs, which have been selected on overall best practice across a number of operational categories, will be officially crowned at a red carpet celebration at 30 Euston Square on Monday 6 September. At the grand final, 15 Regional Winners will also be announced, as well as the esteemed accolade – the overall National Pub & Bar of the Year.
Between them, founders Colin Paige, a master brewer, and Combie Cryan have 25 years of business and brewing experience.
Co-Founder Combie said: "We are thrilled with this recognition. Especially framed against the many amazing other venues in the county. Many of whom we are fortunate to work with as they also share our passion for uncommonly good beer.
We see the award as testament to the amazing work of Dan and our taproom team, who work their socks off to provide visitors with a great experience. Of course its also down to our wonderful and rapidly expanding customer base. We still remember our first few months of opening and serving five to six people on a Saturday night. So, while we welcome many hundreds of people every weekend, we don’t forget how important it is to make every single visit here special. Of course, while we support many local businesses including cider, gin and burger makers, any visit is centred around our uncommonly good beer. Beer that now travels the world, picking up gold medals wherever it goes…but which will always be centred in the unique setting of our 1000 year old Melton Mowbray Cattle Market home.
Beer that we hope more people from across the UK and beyond will make the the pilgrimage to Melton to try. Now, while devouring some amazing new Round Corner Pizza. Our next taproom project is getting our amazing Neapolitan pizza the widespread accolades it deserves!!!! We’ll never stop working on ways to delight people! Bring on the national finals."
