Barclays Bank has announced that its Melton Branch in Wilton Road will close in September.
In a statement issued on its website today (Friday) it blamed the closure on the amount of counter transactions going down over the past 24 months.
It also said that customers using other ways to do their banking had increased by 13% since 2016 and in the past 12 months 7% of Melton branch's customers have been using nearby branches to carry out their banking.

According to the bank only 16 customers use this branch exclusively for their banking.
In a statement Barclays said: "Before we make the decision to close any branch, we think carefully about how it has been used so far. We consider how many customers have been visiting, what kind of transactions they've been making, and all the other ways they've been choosing to bank with us. We also take into consideration the availability of other branches in the wider community."
The branch will close on 16th September. Nearby branches include 10 High Street, Oakham LE15 6AN and 131/133 Belgrave Road, Leicester LE4 6AS.
