Christmas has officially arrived in Melton following the annual Christmas weekend in the town centre.
Celebrations got underway in Melton on Friday with the annual Christmas Light Switch on taking place with local schools and performers among those taking to the stage to get the crowds ready for the big switch on.

Pupils from Frisby Primary School, The Grove, Brownlow and others joined the Rock Choir and Churches Together to set a very festive scene before the switch on.
The annual event, organised by Melton Bid in conjunction with Melton Borough Council, attracted hundreds to the Town Centre.

Cllr Alan Hewson, Mayor of the Borough of Melton was joined on stage by Senior Town Warden Adrienne Holland and Shanon Whetnall who will be gracing the stage of Melton Theatre from 14th December in Beauty and The Beast along with Coronation Street legend Bruce Jones (Les Battersby).
BBC Radio Leicester's breakfast host Ady Dayman also joined in the celebrations cheering on the crowds and got the countdown underway.

The annual Christmas Tree Festival also took place over the weekend at St. Mary's Church.
More than 200 trees were erected in the church decorated by local businesses and organisations.
The event was visited by hundreds of visitors over the weekend to raise money for church funds.
