A 44-year-old man has been charged with the murder of a woman who was found seriously injured in Long Clawson.
Police were called to an address in Kings Road, Long Clawson on Thursday evening following a report that a woman had been seriously assaulted.
Carrie Slater, 37, was taken to hospital on Thursday but died yesterday evening.
A post-mortem examination established that Ms Slater died as a result of a gunshot wound.

Richard Basson, of Kings Road, Long Clawson, has also been charged with possession of a prohibited weapon of a length less than 30/60cm and possession of ammunition without a certificate.
He is due to appear at Leicester Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Monday 25 September).

A Leicestershire Police spokesperson said: "No-one else is being sought in connection with the incident and officers will continue to carry out reassurance patrols."
Rutland and Melton MP Alicia Kearns spoke of her shock about the incident. She said: "My heart goes out to all the family and friends of Carrie Slater, and everyone in Long Clawson.
This has shaken us all, and it is almost impossible to find the words when a life is stolen in our own communities.
I will follow the prosecution closely. Justice must be served."
Basson will appear in court on Monday.
