Man appears in court after fatal Grantham collision

A man who was charged with causing the death of a woman and injuring two children has appeared in court.


Ashley Towning, 30, of Winchester Road, Grantham, was charged on Saturday with causing death by dangerous driving, failure to stop and drink-driving after an incident on the A52 Barrowby Road in Grantham on Thursday.


Towning appeared at Lincolnshire Magistrates court on Saturday morning and pleaded guilty to drink driving and failing to stop however no plea was entered for the charge of causing death by dangerous driving.

A plea and preperation hearing date was set for 9th September and Towning was remanded in to custody by magistrates.


A 40 year old woman died when a black Nissan car left the road and collided with her and two children.


At the time of publication of this story, nearly £12,000 has been raised for the two children involved in the incident, whose injuries were not thought to be life threatening or life changing.
