The A606 between Melton and Oakham is closed this evening while fire crews tackle a building fire in a disused house.
A spokesperson for Leicestershire Fire & Rescue Service said: “Call received to a building on fire close to the A606 in Whissendine.
Initially two pumping appliances were mobilised to the incident, but this was escalated to three and then four pumping appliances and a water carrier. “

It has been confirmed that the building is a disused and un-occupied house, with four main jets in use and firefighting has been taking place externally.
Police are in attendance and National Grid and Severn Trent Water were advised of the incident.
The road remains closed between Whissendine and Langham.
