Investigations are underway in to what caused a fire at a derelict house near Whissendine.
Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service were called just after 4:30 yesterday afternoon (Sunday) to reports of a fire near the A606.

The road has been closed ever since but is expected to reopen as one lane with temporary traffic lights this evening (Monday).
An investigation in to the cause is underway.
A spokesperson for Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service said: “We received a call at 16:33 to a disused and un-occupied house building on fire and sent out seven appliances including two appliances from Melton Mowbray, one from Oakham, one from Birstall, the Command Support Vehicle from Wigston, the Water Carrier from Loughborough and the Incident Support Unit from Oakham.”

They added: “Tier 2 Fire Investigation initiated, and this will continue in daylight hours. Police put a scene preservation in place overnight. Monitoring of structure and hot spots and damping down where necessary has taken place throughout the night.”

A Leicestershire Police spokesperson said: “Enquiries are ongoing after a house fire in Whissendine yesterday evening (Sunday 27 October).
Officers attended the A606, between Burton Lazars and Langham, around 5.10pm. Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service (LFRS) were also in attendance.

Extensive damage was caused to the property. No injuries have been reported and it’s believed the property was vacant.
LFRS are continuing the enquiries at the scene to establish the cause and if any criminal offences have occurred.”
