Firefighters rescue trapped casualties after collision

Melton Firefighters have rescued two casualties following a road traffic collision at Broughton Hill this evening.


Two appliances from Melton station attended the incident just after 7:30pm this evening.


A Leicestershire Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: “ Upon arrival incident confirmed as 2 car RTC, 2 persons trapped (1 in each vehicle) + 2 casualties that are walking wounded.

Fire service extricated both casualties and vehicles made safe.”




A Leicestershire Police spokesperson said: “Police were called to a report of a two-vehicle collision on the A606 Nottingham Road shortly after 6.20pm yesterday (Friday 2 July).

Officers attended, along with colleagues from the East Midlands Ambulance Service and Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service.

One person - a woman - was taken to the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham to be treated for serious injuries.”



The Air Ambulance and four road ambulances attended along with Leicestershire Police.
