Firefighters attend ‘electrical fire’ at the home of Leicester City Football star

Firefighters have attended a fire in a gym at the home of a Leicester City Footballer.


Crews from Grantham and Stamford were mobilised to the incident at an address on the Leicestershire/Lincolnshire border, just outside Melton, yesterday at 15:20.

Multiple crews attended the incident which was at the home of Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy and his Wife Rebekah and their family.


A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed an incident at the property at 15:20 and said an outbuilding was involved in fire. They added that crews used two BA and one hose reel to extinguish the blaze.


Rebekah Vardy, who is the wife of the Premier League star took to Instagram to thank fire crews for their support.


She said: "Every cloud and all that. Thankfully no one was hurt...Buildings and contents are replaceable and the kiddies enjoyed the fire engines. Thank you for being so brilliant @lincsfirerescue".

Reports suggest the fire broke out within a gym complex at the multi million pound house in the Lincolnshire Countryside just outside Melton.

In 2022, the couple submitted plans to build a stable area on a vast amount of land near their property.


Plans include a yard, stables and paddock. The proposal was described as 'change of use from agricultural paddock to equestrian including new stable building and yard for residential purposes only.'


Leicester City will be looking for their first win of the year tomorrow against in-form Brighton at the King Power Stadium.
