There's excitement in the air as one of Melton's newer and highly attended events takes place this weekend.
The 1940s weekend returns to Melton Play Close on Saturday and Sunday with lots on offer for all the family.
The event also includes a special parade on the Sunday to commemorate the sacrifices made by allied forces in the 80th year of the event.
On Sunday the parade will assemble at the end of Nottingham Street / Park Road at 09.45 and start to march off at 10.15am.

The parade will march along Nottingham Street around the Market Place and down Church Street to the Play Close.
The Drum Head Service and 2 mins silence for the 80th Anniversary of the D Day landings will start at 10:50 and is expected to last for 20mins.
All are welcome to the Day in the park after the parade and service.
There is fun for all the family during the whole weekend with authentic vintage traders, invited Chelsea Pensioners, top secret German encampment with Oompah band.
There's also a 'Find Hitler' competition for the children with 10 caricatures hidden away.
There will also be royalty and dignitary reenactors and a vintage craft fair. Along with live entertainment and music from Lily Lovejoy and Jeep Johnson bringing the authentic 1940s vibe to Melton.

There's also lots of camps and displays around the Play Close for you to look at and enjoy. The event runs on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th May from 10am - 5pm in Melton Play Close and surrounding area, church and the Town Centre.
Sadly, there will be no memorial flypast this year as in previous years as one wasn't granted to organisers. It's hoped it will return next year. However the event still promises to be one of the best in Melton's calendar so make sure you take the whole family!
