Local residents were left shocked to see armed police officers descend on a Melton street this afternoon in an operation that saw six men arrested.
Police were called to New Street in Melton just after 5pm today (Monday) and attended with armed officers, dog handlers and the police drone.

The entrance to New Street and local alleyways were closed while the incident took place and police remain in the area this evening while investigations continue.
A number of officers were spotted in New Street, both marked and unmarked police vehicles were also spotted and a dog was taken away from the property. It's not yet known if this is connected to the investigation.

A Leicestershire Police spokesperson told NEMM: "Police were called at 5.10pm today to a property in New Street, Melton.
Six men have been arrested on suspicion of robbery and are currently in police custody.
No serious injuries have been reported.
Police remain at the scene and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident."
